As the Senior VP Operations for Sanad Aerotech, Helmut is responsible for all technical aspects of the business. This includes the engine line, Sanad’s extensive repair facilities, the state-of-the-art test cell, as well as the engineering and planning departments. Helmut and his team of engine experts take immense pride in preserving Sanad’s outstanding quality and operational performance record.
Helmut brings 23 years of previous industry experience to his current role, the majority of which was spent in engine and component MRO: Prior to joining Sanad in January of 2021, he held various management positions with increasing scope of responsibility, most recently as President & CEO of MTU Maintenance Canada. In this role, Helmut lead the company through a successful transformation, overseeing the introduction of three new engine types and significantly expanding its military business. Helmut played a key role in establishing MTU Canada as a centre of excellence for accessory repair and LRU services and has been an active member of the Canadian aviation community for many years. He gained further international experience during a three-year assignment as the COO for ASSB in Malaysia, a JV between MTU and Lufthansa Technik, specialized in the repair of engine blades and vanes.
Helmut holds a degree in aeronautical engineering from TU Berlin and a masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. He completed training in Lean methods at the University of Knoxville, Tennessee and during a Kaizen study mission to Japan.
