Dr. Arif Al Hammadi

Dr. Arif Al Hammadi currently serves as Chairman and Executive Vice President of the Khalifa Innovation Center of Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research.  He is also the Chairman of the UAE Graduate Research Conference’s steering committee and a board member of several organizations including, the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), ADNOC Schools, the Armed Forces Innovation Award, the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the UNESCO regional center for educational planning.

Previously, Dr. Arif served in several positions, including Director of Etisalat University College, Executive Director of Higher Education at the Abu Dhabi Education Council, Chairman of Emirates College of Advanced Education and the UAE Chair of the IEEE’s computer society chapter.

Dr. Arif has also led several UAE initiatives such as introducing the first PhD in Engineering, and establishing the Advanced Network for Research and Education, the Smart Applications Contest, the Emirates ICT Innovation Center, the Gulf Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Institute and the MBZ International Robotic Challenge.

Dr. Arif has a PhD in Telecommunications from the Queen Mary University of London (2000) and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering with Honors from Khalifa University (1994).  He contributes regularly to scientific publications and has also had experience in teaching and research in several fields including artificial intelligence and computer networks.
